Sensory Worlds & Communication Breakdowns: What’s Really Going On?

3rd february 2026 sensory worlds communication breakddowns

Autistic children often absorb more from their environment—lights, sounds, smells, emotions—making communication challenging in busy or hostile spaces. This webinar explores the sensory load behind many so-called “behavioural” issues, highlighting how overload affects attention, regulation, and expression. You'll leave with tools to reduce sensory barriers and support meaningful communication, even in high-input environments like classrooms.

Evaleen Whelton is the founder of AUsome Training, an Autistic-led organisation redefining how we support and include Autistic people. She develops courses, resources, and events grounded in lived experience and professional expertise. With over a decade of work in education, therapy, and advocacy, Evaleen challenges neuro-confirmative models and champions truly respectful, neuro-affirming practice.
