Communicating with Impact: Using Communication as a Leadership Tool

Communicating with Impact: Using Communication as a Leadership Tool

Effective communication is at the heart of successful leadership. Drawing on Looking at Our School 2022, this webinar explores how leaders at all levels can use communication to build trust, foster collaboration and support a positive school culture.
Participants will consider communication through the lenses of Managing the organisation, Leading school development and Developing leadership capacity, with a focus on how clear, consistent, and respectful communication underpins effective teams. The session will look at formal and informal communication channels, managing difficult messages, and the role of communication in conflict management and staff wellbeing.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Connect effective communication practices to the relevant domains and standards in Looking at Our School 2022.
  • Identify their own leadership communication style and its impact on relationships and team dynamics.
  • Use strategies for clear, consistent communication with staff, students and parents in line with the school’s vision and priorities.
  • Apply practical tools for managing challenging conversations and conflicts in a professional and solution-focused way.
  • Reflect on a communication case study and identify what supports effective, collaborative team practice in a school context.
