Stepping Up to Middle Leadership: Getting Ready for Posts of Responsibility

Blurb
This webinar supports teachers who are considering, applying for, or newly appointed to Posts of Responsibility. Using Looking at Our School 2022 as a core reference point, participants will explore how the domains of Leading teaching and learning, Leading school development and Developing leadership capacity can inform their preparation for and engagement with middle leadership roles.
The session will provide a clear overview of the AP1/AP2 appointment process, Circular 0003/2018, and the expectations attached to leadership and management posts. Through practical examples and sample scenarios, participants will consider how best to present their evidence, articulate their leadership experiences and link their contribution to the quality framework.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the key stages of the Posts of Responsibility process, including the implications of Circular 0003/2018.
  • Use Looking at Our School 2022 to identify strengths and areas for development relevant to middle leadership roles.
  • Prepare and organise evidence that clearly demonstrates impact on teaching, learning and school development.
  • Approach competency-based interviews with greater confidence, using LAOS 2022 domains and standards to frame their responses.
  • Respond to sample scenarios in a structured way that highlights leadership skills, professional judgement and collaborative practice.
