Supporting students with social/emotional/behavioural difficulties at post-primary
The course will explore behaviour and will examine the link between learning and behaviour. It will highlight some assessed conditions and will explore how Functional Behaviour Assessment can be used as a tool for responding to challenging behaviour. Positive Behaviour interventions will also be explored.
Learning Outcomes:
- Explore the evidence-based interventions to support the needs of students with behavioural difficulties
- Explore evidence-based interventions to support the needs of students with social difficulties
- Identify appropriate assessment tools to utilise to identify the student's needs.

Rose-Marie Flanagan (B.Ed., Graduate Diploma in SEN, M.Ed. in SEN) has experience working as a mainstream teacher, SET, special class teacher and SENCO. She has worked as both an Advisor and an Associate with the NCSE since 2015. She completed a Master’s in Special Education in MIC in 2011. Her interests are in Inclusion Policy and Practice; Social and Emotional Learning; Positive Behaviour Support for students and Assistive Technology.
