Diabetes in Schools

Many children attending our schools are living with diabetes. This course will give an overview of diabetes and how it may impact on a student during the school day. It is suitable for teachers and SNAs who are working with children with diabetes in the school setting. The following topics will be addressed:

• Diabetes awareness - types of diabetes and medications 
• Hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia - changes in blood sugar levels, causes and treatments
• Diabetic coma and ketoacidosis
• Introduction to diabetes technology
• Links to useful resources
