The Novel in the Primary Classroom

This webinar will explore the use of the novel as a reading stimulus in the primary classroom.

Join Clara Fiorentini of Marino Institute of Education, as she shares:

• Insights into the role of the class novel in developing a classroom community
• Insights into choosing and using high-quality texts
• A range of practical strategies to support the development of children’s vocabulary, reading fluency, reading comprehension and reading motivation when reading novels

Clara Maria Fiorentini is a lecturer in Initial Teacher Education at Marino Institute of Education, specialising in Literacy and Early Childhood Education. Prior to this, Clara taught for eleven years in an urban, DEIS primary school in Co. Dublin, Ireland. Clara provides CPD for primary teachers and early childhood professionals in the areas of literacy, children's literature, play-based learning and school transitions. Clara is completing her PhD research in early literacy development and transition to formal literacy learning.
