Harnessing The Power of Colour in your Life

Colour Therapy is a type of holistic healing. For many centuries there has been a belief that the visible spectrum of light and colour may affect a person’s mood, physical or mental health. There is some scientific evidence to support this. Therapies such as cognitive behaviour therapy have incorporated colour into their work. Science aside we all instinctively relate to colour. This course will introduce participants to Colour Therapy, bringing the power of colour to their personal and professional lives.

Learning Outcomes

1. Develop and understanding of the importance of colour in our lives.
2. Explore creative ways to use colour to enhance our wellbeing.
3. Experience at least one colour healing activity.
4. Build up the confidence to bring colour to their classroom.
5. Provide a classroom plan and resources aligned with the Junior Cycle Wellbeing Indicators.

Facilitator: Dr Gráinne Mulcahy

I am a passionate educator and workshop facilitator with over three decades of experience inspiring learners of all ages. I currently teach Mathematics, Science, Biology, and Religion at Gorey Community School where I also work as Assistant Director in our Adult Education School.

Having worked nationally with Junior Cycle for Teachers, I have supported schools in implementing student-centred learning and assessment practices that truly engage learners. I also work as a senior researcher at Maynooth Business School and as a guest lecturer at the School of Theology, Maynooth University, combining research and teaching across diverse fields.

I hold a Doctorate in Education from Trinity College Dublin, a Master’s in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Work, and a Level 9 Postgraduate Qualification in Programme Design and Validation from Maynooth University. This blend of academic expertise and practical classroom experience shapes the content and resources I provide.

Through my online and in-person workshops, I help teachers, parents, and schools build confidence, enhance wellbeing, and rediscover the joy of learning. My philosophy is simple: education is a lifelong journey, and it’s never too early—or too late—to start learning with purpose and passion.
