Courses are for non-beginners and aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Please note this course is aimed for level A2.1

Lesson 1- School & Instructions - An introductory lesson where we will learn the vocabulary and phrases necessary for describing our schools, classrooms and lessons as well as giving and responding to instructions that are commonplace in the school setting. We will also learn about the Italian School System and how it differs from the Irish one.

Lesson 2 – Email Writing & Requests

- A lesson focusing on email writing to start, with transferable skills for pen-pals. Moving on to making requests, specifically via email for this lesson but with applications to other scenarios. 

Lesson 3 – Days, Months, Seasons, Hobbies

- Revising the days, months and seasons and using these along with hobbies to describe our weekly schedules and ask about other people's activities and schedules. 

Lesson 4 – Time & Hobbies

- A continuation of lesson 3, incorporating the time of each activity as well as the day and month. This lesson will also incorporate a cultural element on typical Italian hobbies and historic sports. 

Lesson 5 – Friends and family

- A lesson focused on being able to describe people's physical features and characteristics and being able to describe one's family in detail. 

Lesson 6 – Weather & The Home

- We will focus on weather reports and being able to replicate these in the classroom and then on describing the home, rooms, furniture and the garden.

  Lesson 7 – Shopping & Food

- We will have a look at in-person and online shopping and the phrases needed for this. Then revise food vocabulary and transfer our shopping phrases to restaurants and take-away. There will also be a cultural element on Italian food. 

Lesson 8 - Clothing

- We will revise clothing vocabulary and then learn the necessary phrases for school such as uniforms, instructions on putting on and removing coats, hats and gloves and then a cultural element on Milan and Fashion Week and how this can be integrated into many curricular areas. 

 Lesson 9 – Travel

- A lesson focused on road signs, signs in transport hubs like airports and train stations, language around tickets and bookings and a short revision of basic directions. 

Lesson 10 - Directions and Prepositions 

 

Places are limited to 25 per class and teachers are asked to pay a deposit of €50 to secure their place, this deposit fee will be refunded at the end of the course. Each week PPLI receive attendance records and once the course is completed we will arrange for refunds to be given to those who have attended 80% of the course. This fee may be paid by the school’s Board of Management. All course participants will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of each course.
