Audience: Primary and Post-Primary Aspiring Leaders.

The Learning Leader:

Summary:

This course will cover the role and responsibility of the school leader in supporting students, staff and whole school learning. Contributing to learning as an active process of growth and development rather than curriculum delivery will be a key focal point.

Learning Outcomes:

Participants in this course will be enabled to …

  • Understand how school leaders make a difference in the quality of teaching and learning
  • Appreciate the importance of modelling, monitoring, relationships, communication and dialogue
  • Situate leadership for learning in the context of school policies, processes and systems

Facilitated by:  Eamonn Barrett

Eamonn is a retired principal of Piercestown N.S., Drinagh, Co. Wexford.  He has tutored for many years in many curricular and extracurricular areas.  He is particularly interested in quality leadership, chess and numeracy, is a qualified TiE tutor and is currently a lecturer with Hibernia College, DCU and St. Nicholas Montessori College.
