WEBINAR - Make a Movie Home Project

WEBINAR - Make a Movie Home Project

Make a Movie: Home Project 2020

Wexford Education Centre will host a one-hour webinar to introduce and promote filmmaking and animation as a fun, creative and child-centred way to respond to remote learning at home, with teachers acting as facilitators as the lessons are pre-recorded and available to share with classes.

Film making is an excellent way to integrate many subjects in the curriculum simultaneously. It offers the opportunity to enhance literacy skills, while promoting creativity, responsibility, individualism and co-operation in children and can be an excellent assessment resource for schools in these challenging times.

Participating in this project is a fun and innovative way to help children to learn in a child-led, discovery learning setting which they can complete at home in a safe environment using the resources available to them at home.

The series of pre-recorded webinars will introduce all aspects of the filmmaking and animation process; outlining the simple and effective use of filmmaking and provide a clear step by step approach to film making for both children and educators alike.

The project provides teachers with the chance to upskill and engage in CPD, while also providing them with the opportunity to share with their students the webinars and learn from home. Movies can be project-based or theme-based depending on current work from school or other stimuli which can be chosen by school or by students.

The webinars are pre-recorded on Zoom and will be available for all. This is to assist people with limited Internet as the webinars will not require as much bandwidth or Internet speeds as other videos. Pre-recorded webinars also mean participants can pause the recordings and engage with them at their own leisure.

NB: The project focuses on film making and animation recording on a mobile device or tablet (both android and apple). All apps used will be free. GDPR and AUP guidelines may need to be adjusted, but this is a matter for each school to decide on individually.
