Essential French for Primary School Teachers (9/9)

Essential French for Primary School Teachers
The new primary school curriculum framework supports the introduction of modern foreign languages in stages 3 and 4, incrementally building on children’s existing knowledge and awareness of language and progressing from a language awareness model to a basic competency model in stage 4. Within this framework, by providing teachers with essentials of the French language and culture, this course will prepare them to implement this new aspect of the curriculum at primary level.
After reviewing the basics of French during the summer course, learners will consolidate these foundations and acquire the essential knowledge for new everyday communication situations, to develop their knowledge of grammar, and strengthen their knowledge of French-speaking culture. They will also explore a French region, Normandy.
Finally, the course will also give the opportunity to the participants to have a reflexive analysis on their journey of learning the language to implement resources for their future teaching of the language to their students. The course will also give them opportunity to specially set up sequences of pedagogical activities around modern foreign language learning.
