1) A four week (8 hours) Mindfulness Course

  • Stepping Out of Automatic Pilot
  • Managing Thoughts
  • Managing Difficult Emotions
  • Bringing It All Together.

The course will highlight the practice of mindfulness and will also include some resources that can be used with pupils in whole class or small group settings.

Dates: Tues 19th and 26th Jan and Tues 9th & 23rd Feb

Time: 5.30 to 7.30 p.m. each evening.

2) Basic Computing & Coding

This two hour workshop will introduce you to blended learning for the classroom. Topics include computing & coding through Scratch, YouTube for education, educational website usage and getting the most from Tabs and iPads.

Date: Tues 9th Feb

Time: 4.00 to 6.00 p.m.

3) Retirement Information Session

Teachers Considering whether or not to retire and avail of the terms of the Haddington Road Agreement – For Teachers considering retiring in the next few years -For Teachers wondering about pensions, pension contributions, AVCs, taxation and other issues relating to retirement.

Date: Wed 10th Feb 

Time: 5 – 6 p.m.

4) Get Ready for Easter with Fabric & Fibre

Get started early in preparing for Easter with this workshop on Fabric & Fibre crafts for the classroom. Participants will receive a free copy of Mairéad’s book ‘Fabric & Fibre’ (one book per school). Fabric and Fibre is an excellent way to reinforce understanding of colour, tone, shape, texture, pattern and rhythm in a fun and practical manner. 5) Playworks in Scoil Phádraig Naofa, Tullow

Playworks is a primary school based programme designed to improve break times for children. Playworks creates inclusive environments for play and physical activity both within and beyond the school day to build empathy, increase learning and improve behaviour, with research showing essential benefits to child development, an improved school climate and more focused students.

6) Hands on Science (materials & Forces) in Ballymurn NS

This two hour practical workshop covering Materials & Forces will be held on:

Wexford County Council is running a National Schools Cycling Safety Competition (NSCS) rear window sticker cycling safety campaign this term. As part of the campaign, Wexford County Council will pay for two participating schools to avail of a cycling coaching session with South East Cycling.

 

The critical dates for completion of the online questionnaire by school classes is February 12th – before mid-term. The council will then post the rear window stickers to the relevant schools and the students have from Feb 22nd  until Feb 28th  to add the sticker to rear window and email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to be in with a chance of winning .

 

Dates are dictated by availability of South East cycling and they are booked for the 2 winning schools for the week of March beginning the 7th (just before Easter Holidays)!

 

To enter, teachers can show the online safety videos to pupils and complete the short online questionnaire with students.

 

For those schools who do not have internet access, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to request videos on a USB key along with a printed version of the online questionnaire and you can post these into me!
