Children are exposed to hundreds of messages every week from media and advertising sources in different forms. Although children are very technologically savvy, they need support to process the messages from media and advertising. Using a cross-curricular whole school approach MediaWise, a media literacy resources for primary schools, helps children to develop their critical thinking and decision-making skills around media. Through a variety of active and interactive lessons, children can learn to be truly media wise. This course aims to outline the cross-curricular objectives of the program while engaging teachers in a number of activities used to promote media awareness throughout the programme.
